Nice - Le Havre

A win for Europe

There are three games left this season, but OGC Nice can secure European football next season as of Friday’s encounter with Le Havre.

A PLACE IN EUROPE IF…

OGC Nice will clinch a place in European competition next season with victory on Friday.

Picking up three points at the Allianz Riviera would mean they can finish no lower than sixth, which means the minimum of a place in the Conference League play-off.

A draw will be enough, if Rennes (who host Lens), Lyon (who go to Clermont) and Marseille (who host Lorient) do not win this weekend.

2ND PLACE OUT OF REACH, BUT…

With their 4-1 win over Clermont, AS Monaco are certain to finish in the top four and Le Gym cannot now catch their Côte d’Azur neighbours.

Held goalless by Nantes at home, Brest (3rd) are now on 57 points, six more than the Aiglons having played a game more. Lille (4th) are closer on 55 points following their 4-3 loss to Lyon. The LOSC-OGC Nice game on the final day of the season could decide everything.

If Dante & Co. win all three remaining games, they will finish fourth.

LENS AND LYON IN PURSUIT

EUROPE 24/25: USER GUIDE

  • The top three 3 in Ligue 1 qualify for the Champions League*

  • Fourth will have to go through a two-legged play-off to reach the competition proper. If they lose, they’ll go into the Europa League league phase.

  • Fifth will be in the Europa League league phase.

  • Sixth is currently heading into the two-legged Conference League play-off in August.

If Paris SG win the Coupe de France final (25 May) vs. Lyon, sixth place in Ligue 1 will go into the Europa League league phase with seventh then taking the Conference League play-off place.

* The terminology changes in 2024/25 with the new competition formats. The group stages have been replaced by league phases with teams’ positions determining their route through the competition.
