Farioli: "Happy with the performance and the result"

Francesco Farioli spoke to the press after his side's 3-0 win over Lorient at the Allianz Riviera on Friday.

Coach, was it a perfect evening for you?

A good evening, yes. I'm happy with the performance and the result. It was a match that we had to win, and it was the first of six crucial games coming up. We're happy, but we don't have much time to enjoy it. We've done that in the dressing room, and from tomorrow we'll have to start preparing for the tough match that awaits us in Marseille. I'd also like to say a word about the fans in the Populaire Sud, who were great from start to finish.

Does this win give you more confidence and motivation for the important games ahead?

We definitely needed this result. We'd been wanting it for a long time, we hadn't won at home since the end of January, so we had to win at all costs. Tonight we did it in style, scoring three goals. It's a deserved result. We could even have scored more. It was important to win like that, it definitely gives you a bit more energy. Now we're going to try and prepare as well as we can for the next few games, with the same determination to work as hard as we have in recent weeks.

Any news on Khephren Thuram?

He came off with a pain in his thigh. It was a mix between necessity and precaution. We need to look at him and Jordan Lotomba. They both came off with physical problems, bruises. We'll assess the situation tomorrow and the day after.

Attacking efficiency has been a recurring theme in recent months. Tonight you won 3-0 with three different goalscorers. Is that important for the end of the season too?

It was definitely important to win with several goals and a clean sheet. We could even have killed the game off earlier, we had two or three chances in the first half. Tonight was a great result but there's still a lot of work to do. We can't lose that attention to detail. Over the last two weeks, we've done fifteen training sessions without missing a single one, and they were all good. We know that it's that energy, that attention day-to-day, that gets us results. From tomorrow, we're going to be looking ahead to Marseille. We will try to give our best.

The postponement of the match against PSG has been made official*. Do you agree with the idea of playing three games in the last week of the season?

From the point of view of French football, protecting two clubs who are in the semi-finals of European competitions is logical and understandable. If you look at our own interests, of course we would have liked something different. Now, this isn't the first time a match has been postponed. We're going to have to change our schedule, we don't decide. We'll prepare as well as we can when we have to play.

*Originally scheduled for the weekend of 4 May, the meeting between OGC Nice and PSG has been postponed to Wednesday 15 May at 9pm, in order to ease the Parisians' schedule ahead of their Champions League semi-final against Dortmund.
