Press conference

Farioli: "Remain united"

Francesco Farioli spoke to the press follow his side's defeat (1-2) in the match against Montpellier on Friday at the Allianz Riviera.

Coach, there seems to be a lot of tension in Nice at the moment...
It's a very difficult time, you don't have to be a genius to understand that. Today, there were setbacks with the own goal and the penalty in the first half. Those were two blows to the head that hurt us. The only thing to do is to try to come back with energy and desire in four days for the match in Paris. We will now turn the page and focus on the next objectives.

Are you and the players not losing control of this season?
I don't think it's about losing control. If we analyse it with some perspective, until two weeks ago, the club's season was the second best of the last ten years. The efforts the players put in to keep the team at the top of the table for six months required a lot of physical and mental energy. It's true that this current period is not pleasant for anyone. We all want to find the right path again. Everything we had managed to do at the beginning of the season, has been lost in recent weeks. But we are still here, anything can happen between now and the last game of the season. Even when we had a 4 or 5 point lead in second place, I knew it wasn't over. I said it. Now we are really in a tough spot and it's up to us to get out of it.

Todibo went to talk to the supporters after the match, what happened?
I was in the interview zone, I just witnessed the end of that discussion. I was informed that the outcome was positive, that doubts were cleared. The situation is OK between "JC" and the supporters.

How do you maintain the unity shown by OGC Nice at the beginning of the season?
Difficult times also involve moments of tension like these, which can happen during the course of a journey. But as I've always said, victories and defeats are part of football. We win and lose as a team. Now, we need to stay united, to regain that togetherness that carried us for months. We managed a good run at the beginning of the campaign, we can do it again. Obviously, the current form doesn't make anyone happy, but the only way is to stay united, all together and work hard. This season can still offer us a lot of exciting times.
