An iron Bard

Having put in an ultra-solid performance, Melvin Bard is your Aiglon of the Match from the 0-0 draw with Brest, as the left-back picks up 69% of the votes.

Bard won the most duels of any Nice player on Sunday (7/8 or 88%, the highest percentage among the starting XI), and, in keeping with his season so far, the left-back certainly turned up against Brest, giving Romain Del Castillo and any other player who dared to venture into his area of the pitch a torrid time.

Bard’s defensive display was rounded off by his seven ball recoveries (the highest total for a Gym player behind Youcef Atal’s nine) as well as his two interceptions – a display that, beyond the numbers, was coloured by his sense of effort, discipline and confidence. Having also contributed to the team’s attacking moves, with eight successful final-third passes from a total of ten attempted, Bard put in a top-quality shift on Sunday – and you didn’t pass up the opportunity to highlight this.

Jean-Clair Todibo (10% of the votes) and Marcin Bułka (5% of the votes) complete the top three from a match in which Le Gym registered their fourth clean sheet in seven games.
