Internationals

Three Aiglons feature for their national teams

Of the six Aiglons who were involved in international matches last night, three got onto the pitch. Here’s an overview of the evening’s action.

Having again been called up by Les Bleus, Jean-Clair Todibo will have to wait a little longer to earn his first cap, as the Gym defender remained on the bench in France’s 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland. Marcin Bułka, meanwhile, played no part in his side’s 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands, with Juventus’s Wojciech Szczęsny keeping goal for Poland for the 75th time.

Badredine Bouanani started for Algeria in their final game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group stage against Tanzania. In what was his fourth call-up to Les Verts, the young Aiglon featured for over an hour of the game, eventually coming off in the 68th minute. Hicham Boudaoui, meanwhile, came on in the 70th minute, while Youcef Atal was an unused substitute in what was a dead rubber for Djamel Belmadi’s squad, who had already qualified before kick-off.

With Morocco’s under-23 team, who are currently preparing for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, Ayoub Amraoui started in a 1-0 friendly win over Brazil’s U23s.
