Farioli: "Some interesting signs"

Check out Aioglons coach Francesco Farioli's take on Le Gym's 1-2 defeat to Fiorentina on Sunday.

The first half was difficult, the second was much better...
"I agree. The first half was a bit more complicated. It was hard to find the right distances. We changed our defensive formation twice and it took us a little while to understand that change. Then, in the second half, when we found the right measures, the right bearings and it became a much more positive match, with some interesting signs and above all, after yesterday's match, it was a match we faced with courage against a strong team like Fiorentina - a team that goes man-for-man all over the pitch. Yesterday's game, like today's, was very promising."

It was the last match of pre-season and there's still a week's work to do before Lille. Can you draw any initial conclusions from the preparations?
"The main objective of these six weeks of work has been to succeed in communicating an idea and courage to the team, while at the same time giving them the desire to play their part. I think that the last two matches have sent out a strong signal in this direction. I repeat: the road ahead is still long and very difficult. But the spirit and the desire to play every match to win are very positive things."

In five days' time, the Ligue 1 season kicks off at the Allianz Riviera...
"There's a lot of emotion and a great desire to start playing matches with real points at stake. Playing the first game at home in front of our supporters is a great motivation. I hope that there will be support and an ideal atmosphere behind the team so that it can continue to grow. What do I want to see in Friday's match? Courage, desire, aggression and mentality. If we can connect with our fans, I think that spirit will be passed on to them, and in return they will give us the support that will help us to excel on the pitch. This will be a first for the players and my first game at home. The desire, the spirit, the emotions that the players are experiencing, we are all experiencing them at the staff level too. We want to be ready and do our best against a good, well-organised Lille team with a well-prepared coach."
