5 things to know about Terem Moffi

Ineligible for the Lens game, Terem Moffi is available to coach Didier Digard for the trip to Marseille on Sunday (kick-off 8:45pm CET). Here's five things you should know about Le Gym's new number 9.

THE FASTEST IN L1 THIS SEASON…

He's someone who can eat up the ground. Quickly. This season, he boasts the second-highest average speed (33.58km/h) behind only Kylian Mbappé (33.94km/h), and was clocked at 35.4km/h against Ajaccio in September, the fastest speed for a top-flight forward this season.

… AND ONE OF THE MOST ACCURATE

In addition to his 12 goals (7 with his favoured left, 4 with his right), he has scored with 33% of this shots this season (not including penalties), one of the highest ratios in Ligue 1.

A MAN FOR THE BIG OCCASION

Since his Ligue 1 debut, he has scored more than a third of his 34 top-flight goals against some of the division's heavyweights: five against Monaco, three against PSG, Lens and Marseille, and two versus Lyon.

Called up by Gernot Rohr

His form earned him a call-up to the Nigeria squad for the first time in June 2021 when former Le Gym coach Gernot Rohr named him in the Super Eagles' squad the day after Moffi had netted a hat-trick against Bordeaux.

He made his senior international debut in a 1-0 loss to Cameroon on 4 June 2021. He has scored three times in seven appearances, netting most recently in the friendly against Algeria on 27 September 2022, a game he lost 2-1 with his new teammate Youcef Atal getting a superb winner.

IHE'S PLAYED IN FIVE COUNTRIES

Born in Calabar on 25 May 1999, he joined a youth academy in his native country aged 11 before going to England and the Buckswood Football Academy at 17. His professional career started in Lithuania where he played for FK Kauno Zalgiris and FK Riterai, scoring 20 times in 31 matches for the latter during the 2019/20 season to finish as the league's leading scorer. He then spent six months with Belgian side Kortrijk before moving to Lorient on 1 October 2020. He scored on his debut in France in a 3-1 win over Reims on 17 October, 2020.
