Vieira: "We don’t deserve much from this match"

Speaking to the press, the Aiglons’ coach was disappointed with his side who he felt “lacked desire”.

Patrick, how do you explain your side’s lack of performance?
We don’t deserve much from this match. We came up against a team that wanted it more than us. We were unable to react, we couldn’t create something. We struggled to trouble them. From that point, it was difficult to come home with something. I don’t know if it’s over confidence after the last two results… This Montpellier side didn’t cause us too many problems. The difference comes from the desire. In the first half we were inexistant. We didn’t play, we didn’t win our battles, we were playing inside ourselves. We were too timid with a lack of risk taking. We played with the handbrake on, we couldn’t break free in the first half.

Mario Balotelli seemed to lack rhythm up-front.
Balotelli is not the problem. I know that he isn’t ready physically. But he was in the same place as everybody else. In a match at this level, if the opposition wants it more than you, it’s already a poor start. We struggled to find spaces. What I really disliked from the team this evening was the lack of determination, desire. We weren’t there in the battles, we didn’t win enough of the second ball. That bothers me.

You score a goal that was disallowed, we aren’t too sure why?
I don’t know. I haven’t seen the replays yet and I haven’t had the chance to speak with the referee for the moment.

You missed a nice opportunity to climb up the table by securing a third consecutive victory...
Before thinking about winning a match, there is a minimum amount you need to do, and we didn’t do it. It was therefore difficult to hope for more.

You lifted your heads slightly after changing to the 4-3-3...
It was a bit better, we tried to create chances down the wings, especially for Atal, who was very dangerous. Yes it was a bit better, but after the first half that we had, it was tough to hope for something.
