Favre: “We can only rely on ourselves”

The Nice coach was satisfied by his side’s victory, despite feeling it could have been by a greater margin given the situation in the first half…

Your team responded well after the disappointing game against Marseille…

It went well for us. We led 2-0 after 12 minutes. By scoring just before the break, the match was more or less over. It’s just a shame that we drew 1-1 with 11 against 10 in the second half. It was important to continue to score for our goal difference, I am frustrated that we didn’t score one or two more.

We saw a very attractive Nice in the first half!

We played well. We moved forward quickly. We did well by scoring quickly from a 27-28m strike from Balotelli and then from a deserved penalty. We got off on the right foot. Caen made a mistake for the 3rd goal…

You did the job, but the other results didn’t go in your favour…

It’s true that it wasn’t great. Sometimes the other results smile on us, this evening, it’s not the case. We can only rely on ourselves. We have lost many silly points this season. It comes down to very little, all games are tight, there are surprising results at times. The one in Paris doesn’t surprise me because they have won everything and have taken their foot off the pedal, we already saw that against  Guingamp and Amiens before this.

Lyon will be going out to win against the Gym in the last game of the season…

That’s not our problem. You need to look for the positives, we still have the chance to qualify for Europe in the last game. It will be a final. So many things are to be played for in the last game for a lot of teams. It will be exciting until the end.
