Favre: "not Enough movement"

Lucien Favre felt a draw was the best result, despite an excellent second half…

Coach, does the draw seem like the right result?

It’s hard to explain. Our first half wasn’t good. We did play with enough rhythm, not enough movement. We were trying to do too much dribbling, too many square passes that didn’t achieve anything. We didn’t offer enough solutions by moving or pressing. To create danger, you have to move fast. We scored from a deflected shot, but then we conceded to quickly afterwards.
Our second half was much better. We took more risks, create more chances, even if there still wasn’t enough movement. But we were also up against a good opponent. The goal we conceded? I didn’t have a good view of it, but it did come out of nowhere… Conceding from a throw-in isn’t acceptable. But apart from that, Rennes had a few chances on the counterattack, with Sarr, but otherwise, we had the better chances.

Is a point enough against a rival for the European places?

If we had pushed a little harder, we could have hoped for a better result. We created danger, but not enough. We made too many mistakes. We are disappointed, but it’s still a point and we keep moving forward, we are still in touch with the teams fighting for fifth. Now we have to concentrate on the next match against Angers.

Plea has been carrying the team in recent weeks…

He had a good game. I have said it before, but it’s not his best position. He’s been playing wide for a while now, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will continue there. He scored – that’s the reward for his hard work at training and in matches.

11 months after injuring himself, Mika Le Bihan was back on the pitch in Ligue 1…

He played well when he came on. He made lots of runs, ran the channels and held the ball up. It was all very positive. He needs to keep working in training, even if it’s a short week with us playing against Angers on Friday. It’s too early for him to start a match.
