Troyes - Nice

The promises of the L'Aube

The international break forces Nice fans to wait another 9 days before seeing the Aiglons at work at the Stade de l'Aube (Sunday 1 April at 5pm).

Whilst waiting for the 31st game of Ligue 1, when the Red and Blacks will kick off their final sprint at the home of the Troyens who are currently fighting for survival, OGCNice.com offers you a chance to relive their last trip to the Champagne-Ardenne.

For their 2nd game of the 2016-17 season, Valère Germain and his teammates put on an excellent show. Trailing from the 3rd minute of the game, Claude Puel's side equalised 3 minutes later, with Hatem Ben Arfa scoring the first of his 17 goals in the league (1-1, 6'). The Aiglons took the lead thanks to a superb volley from Alassane Plea (1-2, 16'), before Maxime Le Marchand put the final nail in the coffin, for the Troyens who were down to 10 men following the sending off of Mavinga (1-3, 42').

Despite utter domination (19 shots) and several chances to increase their lead, the Azuréens saw their hosts get back into the game, thanks to a bullet strike from Camus (2-3, 77') and a final goal from Thiago (3-3, 90+2').

Even though the Aiglons are still asking themselves how those three points could have escaped them, they had proved a point and sent out a warning, which was backed up by a 4th placed finish. Rock bottom the Troyens were relegated at the end of the 2016-17 season.
