Favre: “We could have got a point”

In front of the press, the Aiglons coach recognised the overall performance of his side, but regretted the drop in rhythm after the break which lead to the defeat.

Lucien, what did you make of this game?

It was a nice match. Both sides had chances. Our first half was better than the second. After the break, we lost the ball too much. Our defence was under pressure and we needed more runs. There was less intensity in our game. We saw that we dropped in the second half. We held on well though and countered on several occasions. I am frustrated by the two goals that we conceded because they are completely avoidable. They weren’t real chances, I would have preferred to concede “real goals”. We could have got a point from this match. But against Paris, errors aren’t forgiven. To hold on you need huge energy for the full 95 minutes. It was still positive on the whole.

Where do you rank that performance compared to others this season?

It’s a good performance. But we didn’t hold on for the whole match. There are quite a lot of teams that have held Paris for an hour. You have to put things into perspective. What pleased me today is that we managed to create a good number of chances against a big side.

Do the positives outweigh the disappointment today?

There are more positive things. The most important thing for us, is to find that balance between attack and defence. We made some slight tactical errors which cost us dearly. Against Paris, you don’t get away with that.

Allan Saint-Maximin was a constant danger …

He has made huge progress since the start of the season. He is a lot better at marking, he has improved his one touch game in some areas. He still has work to do, but at 20, what I see is very very positive.

The build-up to your goal, with a quick attack must make you happy…

Yes, it’s a nice goal. We could have scored another similar one in the second half. It was very well played. We just need our other players to follow Allan - it’s difficult given his speed, if ever there is a second ball to be played or to add another option.

Did the change of kick-off time trouble your players?

No, it was fine. It’s like that in other European countries, there is no problem. If you are able to train at 10am, you can play at 1pm with no problem. I think that on the whole, it was a good match to promote French football.
