Alassane Plea: “A nice birthday present”

After putting in an exceptional performance on Sunday against Guingamp (2-5 victory), Alassane Plea stopped to speak to the journalists in the mixed zone. The forward discussed the first four goal haul of his career, before focussing on the final stretch of the season and the visit of Paris SG.

Alassane, what a match...

It’s the first time I have scored four in a match: I had already bagged a brace and a hat-trick, but never four in one match, it’s exceptional and I hope to continue like that. It makes me happy. It’s an unbelievable day, a nice birthday present (he celebrated his 25th birthday the day before, Editor’s note). The whole team got me into the right place.

How do you see this race for Europe?

We have been through difficult times and lost a lot of points that we should have picked up, but we are still in with a shout and that’s a second win on the bounce. It’s going to be tight, there are 9 matches to go. We are a small group of challengers, but there is the opportunity to go and qualify for Europe.

Next Sunday, you welcome Paris SG...

It’s going to be a very nice match, the stadium will be full and our fans will push us on. We will try to go and get something. It will be tough, but there is a chance to do so.
