A former Aiglon passes away

OGC Nice has been made aware of the passing of Renato Marchiaro, a former forward of the club during the 1940s. He was 98 years old.

Coming through the ranks with Juventus before the Second World War, Renato Marchiaro only made one first team appearance there in 1939. A member of the Resistance during the war, he played for Antibes at the time of the Liberation before signing for OGC Nice in 1947. It would be the only season he would spend with the Gym as they secured their path back into the top-flight. He made his contribution to the promotion by scoring 4 goals in 15 league appearances. The rest of his career then took him to Alès, Belenenses (Portugal) and Angers.
