Sneijder out for a month

Lucien Favre announced it during the press conference that took place on Monday: Wesley Sneijder will be unavailable until the end of 2017. “He is out for a month. It’s difficult, but that’s the way it is. It’s his hamstring.”

Injured during the trip to the Parc des Princes, Allan Saint-Maximin has “begun training again this morning (Monday). A short session of three quarters of an hour. Maybe he will be there. We will see tomorrow, normally it should be okay, but that doesn’t work out to be many sessions...”

Questioned about Wylan Cyprien, scorer this weekend with the Reserves, the coach continued his desire not to rush things. “Wylan is coming back from a long injury, we will get him back onto the rails as quickly as possible. It’s already almost a miracle what the medical staff and physios have achieved, because he has come back very very quickly, and an injury like that would normally take a few more weeks. He has also put the work in. Now, we need to see how it goes. He will play again on Friday, in a friendly, and we will see if he could maybe start coming back bit by bit, 30 minutes etc.” Could the difficult period that the Aiglons have been going through accelerate the midfielder’s return? “Is it worth taking unconsidered risks, even in this situation? concluded Lucien Favre. It’s his health and his career that count. If we go too quickly and something happens to him, everyone would feel bad.”
