Discipline

1+1 for Super Mario

The disciplinary committee of the LFP delivered its verdict at the end of the meeting which took place on Thursday: following the red card he received against Dijon, Mario Balotelli picks up a suspension of one match plus a one match suspended ban.

“The disciplinary committee is always listening”

A lenient decision made by the committee - delivered after having watched the images and listened to the Italian international’s account - was approved by Jean-Pierre Rivère. “I am satisfied with this punishment, admitted the president of the Gym. We have seen and then seen again the images, we realise that the mistake is small, that Mario did not have the intention to trip him up, but in fact, quite the opposite, he wanted to pass the ball to Alassane. The disciplinary committee is always listening, it gives us the right to express ourselves. So, it listened to our player and took its decision with the impartiality which characterises the committee.”

The centre forward, who has already received two yellow cards this season (during the 5th and 7th matchdays) will serve his suspension match against Caen (Sunday 19 November) and will be able to make his return to the squad in time for the visit of Lyon (Sunday 26 November).
