Nice-Monaco

L. Favre: "Work together"

Speaking to the press, Lucien Favre evoked tomorrow's derby between Nice - Monaco which will start at 5pm at the Allianz Riviera. Here's a selection of his words.

The challenge

"A victory would be brilliant, but to put in a good performance, that is the most important thing. As I already said, we need to find the right mix and the system which suits the players, so that they work well together. Offensively and defensively. (The victory) We need to go out a earn it, but what counts is that we are well-balanced."

Last year's match

"It's a nice memory but it's in the past. We were very successful, we played well. Tactically too, it was good what we produced. There was a lot of commitment, we ran a lot, I have the figures in my head, we played in a 3-4-3… But everything changes, everywhere, and this year, it's different."

The opponent

"They have invested a lot. To make up for the departures of Silva or Mbappé is difficult, but they have done so in bringing in players that perfectly suit their system. Moutinho was already there, he was involved in almost half of their goals, with lots of dead ball situations. The players get back quickly into this system - the 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 with two wingers in the middle, which I love. They play it magnificently well. But we, we have never changed for other sides and we have always prepared for games to win them."
