Papy Mendy returns!
Sold to Leicester last summer, Nampalys Mendy has returned home. The midfielder has been loaned by the Foxes until the end of the season.
“Papy” arrived in Nice on Wednesday evening. After passing the traditional medical on Thursday, the former-Gym captain signed his latest deal.
Last summer, the spine of Claude Puel’s side left his home region to join Leicester, who had just been crowned champions of England. His progress was held back by an ankle injury, and the 25 year-old only made 9 appearances for the Foxes last season.
The man at base of the Nice midfield for 3 seasons, Mendy played 110 games in Ligue 1, finishing his first chapter in red and black in 4th place, and securing qualification for the Europa League. As a nice touch, he will now have the chance to discover this competition in Lucien Favre’s squad, after their 3rd place finish last season.
A new chapter opens for the former youth international, who has already been able to see some familiar faces during today, at the club’s headquarters.
Welcome home Papy!
